ROLL RACING

60-130 mph and roll racing, explained

Roll racing starts from a cruise instead of a standstill. Here is how 60-130 mph, 40-70 mph and 80-120 km/h intervals are timed.

What a roll interval is

A rolling start removes the launch from the equation. Both cars cruise at the start speed, then accelerate to the finish speed. Because there is no wheelspin to manage, it is a cleaner test of power.

Popular intervals: 60-130 mph in the US roll-racing scene, 80-120 km/h in Europe (the classic overtaking benchmark), and 100-200 km/h for high-power cars.

How Holeshot times it

Choose ROLL and the interval. Cruise steadily below the start speed; the tree goes green; floor it. Holeshot times the moment you cross the start speed while accelerating to the moment you reach the finish speed.
