Trap speed: what it tells you that the ET doesn't
Trap speed is how fast you are going at the end of the run. ET reflects launch and traction; trap speed reflects power-to-weight.
ET vs trap speed
Elapsed time (ET) is how long the run took. Trap speed is how fast you were going at the end. On a drag strip it is measured over the last 66 feet before the finish line.
A great launch lowers your ET a lot but your trap speed only a little. More power raises your trap speed. That is why trap speed is the better way to estimate horsepower.
Holeshot reports your speed at each distance mark — 100 m, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, 500 m, 1 km — measured at the line.
